Why are we still at war ?

And even in our own country.  We pray for peace in the Middle East .

Let me first say that as both a very practical geoscientist and student of history and philosophy (because it can direct the former to more productive and rewarding ends) that planning is my first love and i hope to see REGIONAL and all thinking people drive a return to it .    Am I mad ? I will ask the sheep and the cat   and the donkey too might but in ---- I hope .

It's our children's future and despite inheriting the best planning principles from our own history .Australia is now like many parts of Europe......... one of its COT cases. Why ? You would have to ask me lots of questions and TRUST me as an effective change agent.

One of our lead authors Tim Winton uses the word wonks . I would agree with all who do their job well and get criticized that screen based ( not paddock based )dilitants pen pushers and endless subdividers of problems are the real problem

....and I don't intend to do it now.

What you can do NOW is HELP grow a conviction that the way modern governments and petty and immature Greenlabor and the now reactionary Liberals meddle with it is so paper driven and disrespectful of competencies in this complex field as to get Parliament sacked!

Parliamentary reform has been done before ( map is of 1901) and this latest referendum should show ALL Aussies ( and thinking people around the world) that the simple preoccupation  with One vote one Value ( cf the greater need for a Voice ) is mindless maths mad ness  and similarly, the  Dinasaur preoccupation with " land I own " cf " land we have custody for " is a power concept that is plain wrong ( Worldwide ) Pray for its demise and a war on such simplicities;  Pray for a competent focus on things more sustainable, less partisan with :"truly listening"  preoccupation across the road width ,

Noone can claim like some patriarchs did, that experience rules . Men are not that smart . " I know more about HOW to manage land and people than you do" even if they have been around a long time. Neither can the noisy immature, inexperienced and untested claim they know where to go too from here.

More on the messy love /hate affair we have with mere acres later.

It's our children's future YOU idiots - stop trying to do it yourselves and with a raw power and a bureacratic and blinkered mindset

I heard Bob Katter talk about this in Parliament yesterday. He talked about the primary importance of ownership, and i think he should have talked about "all the forms of ownership ".
He's a valuable man because he has much experience, is a good observer and tests ideas. BUT he knows enough ( and a lot more than many ) to be dangerous. He is so far ahead of the bookkeepers and blinkered idealists who try to run things without any fuel in their tank and awareness of what is over the first hill..
Bob is right to wanna stop any group( including indigenous people) being given rights to what is inevitably Queens lands , By talking to one type of custody he ignores that under leasehold there is no rent-- the only thing aboriginal activists wo know anything now want. Its should only now only be dumb old marxists and their envy that are blind to the hill of slavery that is owning land in the bush.
He's not that smart to focus on the bigger picture--- anyone who thinks the complex and stupid cul de sacs we find ourselves are simple , when they never are, is forgetting that a sound consensus about good land management and wise land counsel over the patch and who coud look after it best would automatically win the war against the really stupids who just wanna lock it all up. or think it works magic for income and security.
Conservatives and quick fix reactionaries will keep losing while common sense is ignored. The protection for stayers is " more advice " . Governor Latrobe wrote it on the floor of Vic Parliament to help the quick fixers last but the twits move to fast to silly street and are then asked to leave.
Why do we go off half cocked all the time ? Bob is right up to a point and... who wants to be half right--- it is more sh into the pile , Ownership of land is important, but leasehold can be better.
Neither form of custody is perfect and both parties abuse both. The idea and practice of public land managed by a form of ownership ( leasehold) and driven in part by objective hands-on experts from outside the fence in which the farmer has locked himself ,has served us all well for eons ---, More new nuances of ecological economy in the bush could be created by having land commissions with participants having limited , but effective ownership.
More productivity could be a reality if our leaders stopped walking away from what works.
